Anqing is located in the southwestern part of Anhui Province, on the north bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The city has a total area of 1,3589.99 square kilometers, of which the urban area is 821 square kilometers. At the end of 2015, the total population of the city was 5.241 million, of which 800,000 were urban residents.
In 2015, it was a national historical and cultural city, a national garden city, an excellent tourist city in China, a national forest city, a national green model city, and a member city of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.
Anqing is 568 kilometers from Shanghai, 323 kilometers from Nanjing, 224 kilometers from Jiujiang, 273 kilometers from Huangshi and 357 kilometers from Wuhan. Anqing City has initially formed a complete transportation mode such as roads, railways, waterways and civil aviation. It is one of the comprehensive transportation hub cities in Anhui Province and East China.
