China National Stadium Bird's Nest

The National Stadium (Bird's Nest) is located in the southern part of the Beijing Olympic Park and is the main stadium for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The designers did not do any extra processing on the venue, exposing the structure, thus naturally forming the appearance of the building.

Construction started on December 24, 2003, and was completed in March 2008. The total cost was 2.267 billion yuan. As a national landmark, the main stadium of the 2008 Olympic Games, the national stadium structure features are very significant. The stadium is a super sports building and a large stadium. The main structure design has a service life of 100 years, the fire resistance level is one level, the seismic fortification intensity is 8 degrees, and the underground engineering waterproof level is level 1.

In April 2014, China's Top Ten Building Judging Committees from the more than 1,000 landmark buildings in China, comprehensively identified the age, scale, artistry and influence of four indicators, and initially evaluated 20 buildings. In the end, the top ten contemporary buildings were created. Beijing Bird's Nest - National Stadium is one of the first-listed buildings. As the venue for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Ice Project, the National Stadium renovation project will begin in early 2020.

The "Bird's Nest" structure design is unique and novel, and the Q460 for building its steel structure has many unique features: Q460 is a low-alloy high-strength steel that will plastically deform when the strength reaches 460 MPa. This strength is larger than that of ordinary steel, so production is very difficult. This is the first time in China that the Q460 specification steel has been used on the building structure. The thickness of the steel plate used this time is 110 mm, which is unique in the past. In China's national standard, the maximum thickness of the Q460 is only 100 mm.

The National Stadium Bird's Nest Design Outline requires that the design of the National Stadium should fully reflect the idea of ​​sustainable development, adopt the world's advanced and feasible environmental protection technologies and building materials, maximize the use of natural ventilation and natural lighting, save energy and resources, and dispose of solid waste. The protection of electromagnetic radiation and light pollution and the application of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) substitute products are in line with the requirements of the Olympic environmental protection guidelines, and some requirements meet the international advanced level and establish a model of environmental protection.
