Foshan Ancestral Temple is located in Chancheng District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. It was built in the Northern Song Dynasty during the Yuanfeng Period (Year 1078-1085). It was rebuilt in the year of Ming Hongwu (Year 1372). It gradually became a complete system and rigorous structure in the early Qing Dynasty. A temple building with a strong local character.
In the twenty-five years of Guangxu (Year 1899), the ancestral temple was overhauled to form today's ancestral temple complex. The Chancheng Ancestral Temple and the Zhaoqing Yuecheng Longmu Temple and Guangzhou Chenjiatun are collectively known as the three treasures of Lingnan Ancient Architecture. They are now state-level key cultural relics protection units.
In Ancestral Temple, there are also many precious artworks, such as 70 pieces of 30 kinds of weapons and copper walls, large bronze mirrors with a diameter of 1.31 meters, large copper tripods, bronze bells and incense burners. There are big iron tripods, iron tripods, iron paintings, etc. There are stone carvings in the park, stone beasts in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and inscriptions on the Tang Dynasty.
Recombined restored ceramic tile ridges, a large number of gold wood carving building components, large iron cast warrior statues, iron cast beasts, iron cannons and so on. These exhibits reflect the superb craftsmanship of Chancheng in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Some foreign friends who came to visit praised the temple as “the palace of oriental folk art”.
The most commendable thing is that the architectural decoration of the Ancestral Temple is made up of pottery, wood carving, brick carving, gray plastic, etc. The sculptures with the main theme of the opera are on both sides.
On the north side of the Zumiao Temple, there is a two-story Qing Dynasty Qing brick building, which is the Huang Feihong Memorial Hall covering an area of 5,000 square meters. Enter the memorial hall of Huang Feihong, which has an exhibition hall and Feihong studio. Inside the exhibition hall, there is a photo of Huang Feihong who is the only surviving person in China. Many tourists must take photos with the master's photos when they arrive here.
